JSW signs MOU with ARI Simulation to conduct Port Feasibility Study

True to the spirit of the Make in India initiative, Jindal Steel Works (JSW) and ARI Simulation have signed a MoU for conducting feasibility study of various river ports. The objective of the study is to derive the optimal operational conditions for shipping resulting in increased volume of cargo and cost reduction. The ports identified include Dharamtar, Jaigadh, Nandgaon and others.

JSW plans to use an 8000 ton DWT bulk carrier to transport cargo from Jaigadh Port to JSW steel plant at Dharamtar through Amba river. For this, the river needs to be dredged to allow for this passage of the bulk carrier safely. The study is aimed at arriving at the optimal depth of dredging required under normal and extreme weather conditions and berthing/ un-berthing operations at these ports.

The study will be conducted on ARI Bridge Simulators by JSW pilots – wherein they can simulate various conditions to derive the exact parameters for safe navigation in the channel.
